The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is a Pentecostal denomination founded in Nigeria in 1952 by Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi. It has grown into a global church with millions of members worldwide and a strong mission to spread the Christian gospel. The church has an international presence in over 130 countries and engages in various community services and evangelism activities.
The church began in 1952 in Lagos, Nigeria, by Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi, after he left the Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
Akindayomi was said to have received the name of the church in a vision.
The church was founded on a covenant that God would meet its needs as long as members remained obedient to His word.
Upon Akindayomi’s death in 1980, Enoch Adejare Adeboye became the leader, which led to the church’s rapid global expansion.
The RCCG’s mission is to “make heaven, take as many people as possible with us, and have a member of the RCCG in every family of all nations”.
The church is active in evangelism, including prison and hospital evangelism.
RCCG also engages in various community services, such as providing food and clothing, supporting refugees, and building infrastructure in needy communities, notes RCCG Netherlands Mission.
The church has training arms, including a Bible college, and focuses on leadership development.
